UX 101 For Legal: A New Online Course From Theory And Principle Teaches The Basics Of UX/UI

Whether you are a purchaser, designer or user of legal tech in your firm or organization, it is important to understand the basics of user experience and user interface design. Now there is an online course to help you do just that.

The legal technology design and development company Theory and Principle has produced a course, UX 101 for Legal, a one-hour series of short videos designed for anyone who wants to understand UX/UI principles through a legal lens.

It is ideal for law firm and in-house innovation teams, lawyers interested in design, legal tech companies, and law-related non-profits, the company says.

Among the topics the course covers:

  • The basics of UX/UI.
  • The design process.
  • Evaluating product UX.
  • Design and AI.
  • Teardowns of public law-related sites.

Nicole Bradick, founder and CEO of Theory and Principle, told me that the course grew out of workshops she and others at her company put on for law firms and innovation teams.

“Firms are starting to understand that design is a thing they need to care about when they are building or buying legal technology,” she said. “We give people the language around it and help them understand what is good design or bad design.”

For those working in the legal industry, the course provides the fundamentals of UX/UI as they apply to law, so people can look at it through the lens they are operating in, Bradick said.

The cost of the course is $249. It consists of 16 lessons, for a total of one hour of video content.
