Atlanta Judge Removed From Office Following Arrest

goodbye farewell lateral partner moveChief Justice Roberts might be throwing his hands up at the Supreme Court’s legitimacy problem, but Georgia’s Supreme Court takes it very seriously. Today, Georgia’s highest court signed off on removing Judge Christina Peterson from her office. She’s faced other issues, namely her recent interaction with the police. While her actions leading up to her arrest remain unclear — whether she was helping a woman being attacked or if she hit an officer is being disputed — the recorded conduct prior to and after her arrest isn’t befitting of a judge.

This is Atlanta’s highest paid judge, Christina Peterson, a Democrat.

She was arrested this week for for punching a cop in the head, outside of a bar. She was booked into Fulton County jail on felony charges.

And while you may have come to expect thinly veiled death threats from Boeing, that’s not the sort of thing judges can get away with.

“Don’t touch me!” Judge Christina Peterson is still uncooperative as she’s being led into the jail and still hasn’t provided her name. They have no idea who she is. pic.twitter.com/LzRWnvDinB

Oddly enough, the court’s decision to remove her had nothing to do with her most recent interaction — this was just the icing on the cake! You can read the court’s extended rationale for her removal here.
