Less than a week ago, Cravath brightened up the holiday season for Biglaw associates. How’d they do that? Money, of course! They announced raises that — for midlevel and senior associates — went over the Milbank raises from a few weeks prior. Now the only question is, which Biglaw firms will be able to match this new standard?
While it may be true that not every Biglaw firm will be able to match these raises, with over a billion in revenue, Weil was pretty much a lock. That’s right, last year, Weil made $1,767,107,000 in gross revenue, making it 23rd on the Am Law 100.
The result of all that success is a brand new compensation and bonus grid at the firm. The scale is as follows:
Class Year | 2023 Overall Strong Year-End Bonus | Annual Salary Effective January 1, 2024 |
2023 | $15,000 (prorated) | $225,000 |
2022 | $20,000 | $235,000 |
2021 | $30,000 | $260,000 |
2020 | $57,500 | $310,000 |
2019 | $75,000 | $365,000 |
2018 | $90,000 | $390,000 |
2017 | $105,000 | $420,000 |
2016 and more senior | $115,000 | $435,000 |
Bonuses will be paid on January 31.
